I have booked an Airbnb in London for September, booking placed around 3 weeks ago. Just received an email from the owner saying they would like to increase the price per night. I booked at the price stated on the website, surely this a contract?? I have tried calling Airbnb customer service, requested a call back, twice they have called back & twice the call was disconnected. Very unhappy about all this. Anyone have advice?
@Jayne250 I’m sorry you are having to deal with this. I can’t think of a better phrase to call this other than “pure greed”. Unless this was some kind of extreme typographical mistake, this host is probably feeling inflationary pressures and higher demand for London, but he/she is not being ethical.
Of course you have a contract, although I would consider abandoning this host by asking for a full refund and booking elsewhere. Then I would report the host to Airbnb. It will probably give the host what he/she wants, but you don’t deserve this kind of pressure and discomfort when planning a fun vacation in London.
Did the host say why he/she is wanting to raise the price? I did see a post here in which a host made a mistake and posted $109 for a whole week. That would be a different issue, although you could argue that even then, the host should honor the advertised price.
They just want to increase the nightly rate due to high demand. I have messaged saying I don’t agree to the increase. I don’t really want to cancel as this is the 2nd booking I’ve made, the first one cancelled my booking as they had decided to take the home off Airbnb. Took me along to find this one, in the right area at the right price
That's not a reason to increase their rates . It's immoral and wrong for them to suggest this.
give Airbnb a call and report this (they can see the messages from the host on the platform @Jayne250
airbnb's T&C is on their website
I agree. I did call Airbnb & they said they they can’t raise the price unless I agree to it, who’s going to say yes please increase the price for me!!
They just said that due to high demand they wanted to increase their nightly rate. Where do I access Airbnb T&C? I have messaged back saying I don’t agree to the increase, I agreed to the price at the time of booking
