Hi Superhosts — I’d love some advice on how to co-host/manage a property for an owner without risking my Superhost status.
Last year, I helped a friend by listing their home under my account. They wanted to handle the cleaning themselves, but we ended up with a bad situation:
One guest left a complaint about cleanliness
Another guest was upset because of the earlier guest’s behavior/impact on their stay
After that, I removed the property from my listings, but my Superhost status still took a hit, and it took nearly a full year to earn it back.
Now I have another owner asking if I can help manage their properties, and I want to do it the right way.
What are the best ways to protect Superhost status when managing someone else’s listing?
For example:
Is it safer to co-host instead of listing under my main host profile?
What systems or minimum standards do you require (especially for cleaning and turnover quality) before taking on a property?
Any best practices for handling guest issues so they don’t impact ratings?
Thanks in advance for any tips or strategies that have worked for you.
You should always help the owner list their property under their profile and be added as the cohost. @Marie11408
personally I would never take on a property to cohost if my cleaning partners weren't doing the cleaning.
Thank you for your feedback and confirming that being added as a cohost is the best way forward.
Yes, ive already informed the host I have to use our hired cleaners.
Hello @Marie11408 Glad to hear you found Helen’s answer helpful 😊. I’m sharing this link that can help you and other hosts set everything up correctly: Add co-hosts to your home listing.
Please keep us posted on how everything goes.
