Protection against illegal activity by guests?

My guest was smoking lots of pot in my (non-smoking) rental. It is not legal in my state.  I live on the other side of the duplex with my young daughter, and there was a cloud of pot smoke in our house. My daughter's room was full of it, which is absolutely not ok. This guest also had a constant parade of guests who were not on the reservation, leading me to suspect that she was actually dealing out of my house.

I called Airbnb support to try to terminate the reservation, was transferred to a "specialist" because there was something illegal going on, and the specialist took OVER 15 HOURS to message me back, despite my emphasis that this was an illegal situation that I was not comfortable having in my house. By then the reservation was practically over.

Should I have done something different? Is there a way for hosts to protect ourselves from situations like this?

@Jackie570 Airbnb can help you with resolving the payment side of things, but if you need to remove the guest from the property, you have to deal with that yourself. What you should have done is told the guest to vacate the property immediately, and called the police if they refused.

What Airbnb usually does in these matters is refund the remaining nights of  the booking.

Thanks; I don't like confrontation so I'll have to figure out a plan for if/when that happens again. Usually when I send indoor smokers a message reminding them that smoking isn't allowed in the house it stops right away but this guest kept right on doing it.

Is there anything I can do now to keep this guest from instant booking with other hosts? She instant booked with me, and I see that almost all of her other reviews were written by hosts who were angry about her smoking in their non-smoking units and having unregistered guests. It seems like after so many bad reviews Airbnb should be doing something to protect hosts against this.
