Protocol for investigating as to why guest has left without explanation minutes after check-in?

Hello, I am a fairly new host and I am wondering  what methods my fellow hosts use when investigating why a guest has walked out on their reservation, moments after check-in, without explanation. Check-In proceeded routinely but the guest handed back the key and walked out after about 15 minutes. I have yet to receive an explanation from Airbnb or the guest 20 minutes after their departure so I’m wondering what courses of action I can take at this moment as I am seriously racking my brain as to why this may have happened. The accommodations are spotless but the guested mentioned not wanting to meet the pet dog, although the listing makes it more than obvious there would be one on the premises, and made a nonchalant remark about not being able to lock the rental room from the outside while they were gone. How does some of you is your racing mines and How long should I wait before contacting Airbnb about this?

Did the guest cancel the reservation ?

If not, i think you should wait for a message from the guest or Airbnb.

I agree it is rather strange somebody leaves without any explanation.

(BTW i think you should consider creating locks on the rooms you offer, so they can be locked in- and outside).

Why do you say the guest gave no explanation? It seems that he did- he wasn't comfortable with the dog and he objected to no lock on the door.
