Rejected guests returning with another ID

Hi hosts, I have a dilemma about a booking. I recently rejected a booking for the very first time because the guest had terrible reviews from other hosts. He saw the message as soon as I rejected it.

Within a minute, my place was booked by another person with the same requirements. This new person has no reviews yet. I even asked if it was the same group as the rejected booking, but they said they are not. I am very worried as I do not wanna host that group with the terrible reviews

Hello @Parikshit2

You did well and it sounds like it's too much of a coincidence for it not to be the same person but alarming that it's that easy to create a new profil on Airbnb.  Will they try again?😨

Have you blocked both profiles?  In case you need it, here's how to do it:

I hope that's the end of them for you🤞

Are you on Instant Book @Parikshit2 ?

Did the first booking come through as a request because you require a good track record? And then the second guest was able to Instant Book because they didn't have bad reviews?

Just trying to understand what happened.

I am on instant book. The first one came as a request because his ratings were poor. The second one also came as a request because it had no ratings at all.

I am sorry for not being clear earlier. I meant I recieved another request to book. The booking had not been confirmed.

I have rejected the second request also. It just seemed really suspicious. I was just concerned cause I have never faced this issue in 200+ hostings.

I think the initial booker tried again with his wife's profile or something. I had not blocked them but have done so now.

I think it worked out well @Parikshit2

I understand that one doesn't want to decline unnecessarily as it's bad for the listing, but I think what you did here was rare (as you're not in the habit of declining) and probably a good choice in this case.

Reject the booking if you even suspect it is the same person. I am a new host that recently had a terrible experience with a bad guest. In your case, not only he had already bad reviews but also there is a revenge to be taken as you declined his first booking. People get emotional because of this and it is just a bad set up as now his emotions will only magnify your property's imperfections. It is always better to lose some money that to host a suspicious guest.
