In order to accurately answer this question, we would need to know the cancellation policy for the listing that you booked. The payment system is in fact automated and when you choose the Payment Plan option, there is no way to change the date as it is based on the cancellation policy of the listing. If your payment fails, you will be given 72 hours to make the payment. Now depending on the cancellation policy, the drop-dead cancellation date will be different. Do you know what the cancellation policy is for this listing? If so, let me know and I can let you know how long you will have to pay the second payment before the reservation is canceled.
