Responding to reviews

We have just had guests leave, they knew the rules before they arrived and I always leave a print out with wifi, our contact numbers just in case,  plus a reminder on the house rules. They managed to pretty much blow all the rules.  We were clear all windows doors needed to be shut when they left the house, to protect us and them and in and on.  Other rules all reasonable going by others.  They have left a review that our place isn't suitable for younger people and unless one has a car hard to get to...nearest bus stop 5mins walk away...

Do I reply to review or leave it...

@Natasha372 Just directly quoting the entirety of the review :

Nice and clean place, I would not suggest it for young people or if you are not going to rent a car.

In terms of how/whether to respond, it's completely irrelevant that the guest broke your rules. The place to address that is in your review of the guest.

The audience for your response is people considering booking your place, so it's not the space to air out grievances. You could say something like

We happily welcome guests of all ages who respect our home and honor the House Rules. For those traveling without a car, there is a bus stop 5 minutes away by foot.

If more mature guests are your target market, the first point may be unnecessary. And about the bus stop: this is a point worth making only if there is regular daily service and car-free visitors can easily access goods, services, and activities.

Thank you! That is very useful. Much appreciated.
