Hi All,
My door’s smart-lock is connected to airbnb. The door code sent in the guests’ check in instructions was different than the suggested door code. My lock was correctly auto programmed by airbnb with the suggested door code. This error caused the guest being unable to get access.
I reached out to Airbnb and got this response:
Airbnb:
Smart lock codes are automatically generated by Airbnb and synced to your lock based on the reservation details. Sometimes, there can be a brief delay between when the code is sent to the guest via email and when it fully syncs with your lock—this may explain why the code in the email differed from the one programmed on your lock...
Me:
Airbnb's email had a different code than what it programmed. It was not a delay.
Airbnb:
…Occasionally, discrepancies can occur between the code displayed in email and the one programmed on the lock due to system synchronization processes—though the code on your lock is always the authoritative version...
I read that “As of late 2025, Airbnb has replaced guest and host real phone numbers with temporary, masked numbers” and wonder if this may cause the issue? Anyone else had this issue?
