When I opened my calendar for bookings (in early March, I think), smart pricing was suggesting prices much lower than the going rate during high tourist season. I switched to manual pricing on my two listings and thought everything was ok.
I got one booking for July at the price I had set, but it wasn’t until I had already greeted my second guest via message that I realized there had been a horrible mistake.
The lowest I would rent my house for in August is 100 euros per night, but she snapped up five nights at 60 euros per night.
War had just broken out in Ukraine, I was busy with house renovation and other worries, so I let this slide and chalked it up to a learning experience for me. I think what might have happened is that when I clicked the button to submit the price change, it didn’t take, and stayed in smart pricing.
Now over a month has gone by and I’m kicking myself for not having spoken up sooner. The reservation is for mid-August: is there any way I can politely try to raise the price? Is this even ethically ok?
This listing is how I earn my living. What would you do in this situation?
