Verification Request by Host

If I created an AirBnB account and verified my ID with driver's license, why would the host need me to send them a copy of my ID?

@Patrick2959 Because Airbnb does not share this verification data with the host. The host is required by law in some countries to collect certain data and supply this to the local authorities. What country are you travelling to?
