Verifying a listing

Verifying a listing

Hello - I’m looking to book an airbnb in Madrid for the end of May and have come across this property which looks very nice and seems well priced compared to others.

however, the profile raises potential concerns as it is a brand new user with zero reviews.

it would be great to get your views as to whether you think this is a legitimate listing, or whether it should be avoided.

thanks!

It does look cheap but maybe that's because it's a new property . If you're concerned with booking with a new host then book with an established superhost with good recent reviews @Aaron1237

Hello @Aaron1237

New hosts generally market their properties under what their competitors might charge as they realise that guests might prefer a listing with actual reviews.  My advice would be to use the "contact host" button and engage with them about your forthcoming trip.  The way they will reply to you should speak volumes and hopefully they will be able to allay any fears you might have.

You have but one review yourself dating back to last year so a host took a chance on you too 😊

Have a great holiday whatever you decide to do,

Joëlle

Hi @Aaron1237 ! Thank you so much sharing your concerns with our Host members in the Community.

Experienced Hosts Joelle and Helen have shared some nice tips to help you navigate through this listing. As Joelle mentioned, it would be a good idea to send an inquiry message to the Host to get more details. Sharing an image how the "Contact Host" button looks like on the Host's listing page. Please keep us posted on how you proceed with it!

Also , there's a popular thread on our Community related to this question where a Host shared some great tips about identifying a legit listing. Sharing the link to the topic here.

On a side note, I had to remove the link to Host's profile/listing as we do not allow our Community members to post identifiable information due to safety and privacy reasons as per our Community Center Guidelines. Thank you for your kind understanding regarding this one. 🌻
