Website messaging issues. not using the app.

Hi

Is anyone using the website rather than the App?

If so, have you been experiencing issues with messages?

A few months back our message page would not load, after many hours dealing with support, and getting no answers, we bought a new phone that was supposed to work with their platform.

Now, we are not getting text messages when guests send us a message.

All other notifications are coming through fine.

Also, when we send a message, it sends but if we leave that message, when we go back to it the message is still on the box as if it was never sent....over and over again until we logout and back in. Then it starts all over again.

This happens whether we are using a phone or laptop.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar to either issue.

I only use the website.

I indeed noticed the problem you mentioned: Already sent messages are still staying on the input text box.

Which is a very confusing issue.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I'm wondering if you have a cell phone where you would get message notifications as well?

Hi @Rebecca , same problem here and your instructions are not resolving it. Chrome browser on Windows.

Thank you so much for letting me know and trying the troubleshooting steps @Brandon61

I've now passed this along to the Airbnb team, in the meantime, would it be possible to get a screenshot of the issue please? 😊

Not seeing an upload option so here's a share link:

I sent the reply about a half hour ago. When I later navigate back to the open page using alt-tab, the field is populated again with the text I already sent.

Chrome for windows:
Version 153.0.8010.48 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Windows 11 home v 25H2

This is great - thanks so much @Brandon61 😊

Hi @Eagle-View0 and @Emiel1, can you try the following steps please?

  • Log out (on all affected devices/browsers)
  • Close all browser windows/tabs (on all affected devices/browsers)
  • Open ONE new window (on all affected devices/browsers)
  • Clear cache and cookies and browser history (on all affected devices/browsers)
  • Delete & re-install app (if applicable)
  • Log in with email associated with your Airbnb account

Please let me know if the issue persists and send over any screenshots and I can share with the team. 😊

Hi

I did that a few times, same issue.

It's with their website nit our devices.

Thanks

Dear @Rebecca ,

Respectfully, please consider updating the instructions you are giving.

"Open and close your browser" and "clear your cache" are troubleshooting steps from 20 years ago.

These days a well built website should refresh itself and manage its own cache automatically.

If Airbnb still insists guests and hosts do this manually, it suggests the underlying app code has not meaningfully evolved since Airbnb first launched. That is not a good sign.

Please check with your technical team whether this recommendation is genuinely still necessary or just an outdated habit being repeated.

Hi @Guy991 👋

Thanks for taking the time to share this, it's a fair point, and one I've wondered myself when going through tech support! In practice though, these steps still tend to resolve a lot of glitches, even for tech-savvy hosts, as they often come down to outdated cached data, outdated app installed or session conflicts. It can feel a bit old-fashioned, but going through them in order is usually the quickest way to rule out simple causes before digging any further.

I hope that helps clear things up a little and I've shared your feedback with the team, as always. 😊

Good morning @Rebecca ,

It has been almost two weeks since the original post on September 6, and still nothing has been done. Same issue.

On another note, in 2026 I do not clear cache, just as I do not clean chimneys or walk the streets lighting candle lamps in the evening.

Have a great day ahead 🙂 I hope my last message brings a smile.
