Hi , We are new to airbnb with a 2 acres property in NSW Australia. A guest has requested a wedding event be held on the property for 30 guests coming from 10am-10pm with just 8 people staying overnight. Does airbnb cover in the event of a wedding?

Airbnb is not the right platform if you want to cater for events I'm afraid . @Tonia588
Not only would you not be covered if the visitors of the guests damaged your place but it's against Airbnb T&C s to accept events .
those getting married can see booking an Airbnb as a way of getting a free wedding venue that they'd often pay a large amount for if they booked a wedding venue .
Personally I'm would run a mile from a request like this.
if you want to cater for events, get appropriate insurance, have an event contract drawn up, think about catering, toilet hire , furniture hire etc and how much you would charge.
then you can invest in marketing the property as an events venue .
Excellent question!
Does your business permit allow events, and does your business insurance cover this? Different rules apply to different locations, so please be sure you are permitted to host events there. In addition, definitely make sure that any catering, photography, sound system, entertainment and other providers have insurance to cover themselves, the folks that hire them, you, your property, and any issues that their services might cause. Events can become complicated, and liability issues are not uncommon, we've learned.
Hello @Tonia588 ,
As far as I know, you can’t officially book an event on Airbnb. That means Airbnb likely won’t cover either the event itself or the additional guests.
That’s right. If a wedding guest gets injured on your property, for example, breaks a leg, you could be held personally responsible. You absolutely need proper insurance for that kind of risk, and you should have a signed agreement in place that clearly outlines the terms of the event, including liability and insurance.

Excellent advice from @Helen3 & @Guy991 and I agree with their suggestions.
I always advise my Host clients to obtain their own short term rental insurance and not rely on Aircover which has too many limitations and exclusions.
Weddings and other events are just waaaay too much liability. We get requests for weddings all the time and decline and refer them to local event facilities that can handle a group that size.
That said, if you exceed the maximum number of guests indicated on your listing (even if not staying overnight) then I don't believe you would be covered with Aircover. You'll have to read through the terms and conditions. Keep in mind there will be 30 people on the property trying to park, use the restroom, generating trash and using consumables and utilities etc. Additionally, where will everyone go if there is rain or other bad weather? How will you control alcohol use and prevent minors from consuming alcohol? Do you have any nearby neighbors who would object to the commotion and noise? Additionally, we have found that when someone says 30 guests, they have forgot to include children and infants in the guest count and it ends up being 50-60 guests. I have heard some Hosts say they have even brought in a caterer and set up tents and chairs (guaranteed to ruin landscaping) without permission.
