Hi all, I am looking for options to give as a welcome gift to the guests, any idea? do you know what's something that the guests like the most?

My place is like a home for them, although its a cabin. In my general note i include that they can use whatever they may find in the kitchen or fridge. I always have the basic necessities for cooking, breakfast like eggs, Milk ketchup, bottle of coke etc. in the fridge. Some of them love it, some never use it. Coffee, hot choco and teas, honey, lemon, pasta, choco bars detox tea, etc. Icecream pops if they like, but i also put potato chips or an apple on the kitchen table along with my general note and attached a small note to it as a welcome gift. Depends what kind of guests you have. I leave small notes around the cabin as well on how to use some equipments in the cabin. Some of them loved it, they felt at ease and truly welcome, feels like home. I also make sure the TVs are on with a fireplace back ground or an acquarium or scenes from Norway with very low instrumental sound, to make the room alive but in a cozy way,. I don’t buy things as a gift but like the other hosts said, its best to give them tips about the sorrundings, ideas where to go written in a jouful manner or politely.
its not bad with local stuff, its amazing, perfect for non locals. What the guests like most is what they can do inside for fun, some only likes my place because of the sauna, specially couples, some like groups of youth love the karaoke, dart, Chess and some traveler on bikes enjoys my massage chair. If you like to put on weight of your service on welcome gifts maybe add some local flowers on the table, it will do some magic of welcome for them, a nice chilled champagne probably is better than things, specially for older couples. If champagne is costly you might try bake then some thing that you like cookies, muffins but just few slices is enough to save for the next day guests. 🤗 that’s all i can recommend for now. Wish you luck Brenda.☺️
Hi @Brenda1845!! I’m currently working with a local girl that makes soaps, salves, lotions, etc. to start leaving a sample of her product for my guests. I already have water in the fridge and a few snacks in a container. Also, since we are dog friendly, I have a container with dog treats. I hope this helps!!

We provide soaps, bottled water, coffee or tea in the am, and breakfast cereal toast and sweet treats. Sometimes invite guests for dinner if they are commuicative.
That is so welcoming, @Paul11454! If guests accept the invite, what’s your go-to dish?
Hi @Michelle3818 , it is really a thoughtful touch! I like the idea of partnering with locals and benefitting the whole community.
Do you ever get feedback from guests about these welcome touches?
Hi Brenda
it was suggested to me to have a welcome gift that was something locally made like maybe having writing paper, postcards, special, local food, etc. I would have something that’s easy for you to provide, that isn’t pricey, that won’t cause a mess in your home. I always provide bottled water. We have local chocolate, that is nice. Some people provide a little basket of popcorn, couple of snacks. I think it’s nice after you’ve been traveling all day to have a little snack and water ready for you. Also I write a little welcome card, S and make that part of my gift. some people love the gift and some people never mention it. I would also keep in mind about food allergies. I hope this helps
Hi @Priscilla448 , locally made welcome gifts are indeed a lovely touch and I noticed host @Michelle3818 offers local items too!
What kind of lovely greetings do you usually add in the welcome card? Have you noticed that guests mention these kind gestures in the reviews too?
Welcome gifts from any local merchant may be a good idea, however personal care of guests are much better. A welcome message for check in with ideas ideas and tips about the neighborhood are far much better and long lasting. Personal care far outweighs to stuff you give your guests. They will remember the experience and not the material stuff you give them.
My 2 cents.
Couldn't agree more ,@Pervez3 !
Have you found any particular advice or tip that gets your guests excited about exploring your area? May be local food items, local shops etc ?
Hi @Brenda1845 😊,
This is a fantastic idea!
Where did you get the inspiration for the welcome gift?
I’m tagging a few hosts in case they would like to share some ideas: @Brenda1830, @Basil53, @Livia120, @Jeffrey726 and @Mohideen0.
Thank you in advance, everyone!

Hi @Elisa , I got this idea from other places where I've been and seems a nice idea. I really appreciated that but do all guests would appreciate a welcome gift and give more value to the stay? or is it only me?
Hi @Brenda1845 😊,
Thank you for letting me know!
I like the idea too, but if you want better advice, I recommend asking another question in the community, other hosts will be able to share a more helpful perspective.

Hi @Brenda1845, a couple hours before a guest checks in, my wife gets soft homemade cookies from a neighborhood convenience store close to our rental. She also includes a local post card. The guests love it.
Adding homemade cookies in welcome baskets is such a personalized way @Basil53 ! Do you ever get thank-you notes or messages from guests about the cookies?
Yes, guests love them and mention them in our guestbook and reviews! Every little act of kindness gets noticed.
