I'm a fairly new host and would love to know what your "red flags" are for potentially problematic guests.
I've seen and implemented some really useful ones here on CC (asking for discount, asking for extra, wanting preview, etc). I would like to here your thoughts on others.
@Paige73, a general lack of communication or ability to communicate well. I've noticed those who fail to send a decent inquiry or request message and respond curtly or with short answers to questions asked are also generally the ones who leave a mess and break rules.
Besides the usual reasons already covered, a guest that uses the word 'contract' (legal types) or 'concerns' (worrying types) I approach with a critical eye.
Ones I get often and also do not welcome with open arms is the 'surprise the wife' type of bookings. I rather they 'surprised' their wifes somewhere else.
I'm always wary of guests who ask me to reduce or waive cleaning fees, especially if it's because they're say it's because they're coming from another country and the exchange rate is unfavorable. I let them know I am sympathetic about the rates, but I still have to pay our cleaning crew in US dollars.
