Why are my messages translated for one guest but not for another?

Hello. I am a host in Japan, and I recently noticed something strange with Airbnb’s automatic translation feature.

I sent an English message through the Airbnb app to two Japanese guests. For Guest A, the message was automatically translated into Japanese, but for Guest B, the same message remained in English without translation. Both guests have the automatic translation setting turned ON.

Why does this happen? Could it be related to the “Preferred language” setting or the app version?
If anyone knows, I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hi @Mitchy2

Possibly  guest’s preferred language settings. If Guest A has “Japanese” as their preferred language on Airbnb, and Guest B has “English” (or any other language) set as their preferred language.

Hi @Mitchy2 , as Patricia pointed out it may be related to preferred language in the app.

I found this article that might help with information about language settings : Changing the language on Airbnb . There's also an option to temporarily change the language.

Has this been a one off experience with your guests, or do you find the same issue when sending messages to guests?
