hostess wants to higher price after confirmation and payment

Has anyone experienced a host who wants to charge more for the booking in than that which was confirmed and paid for? Perhaps it is a cultural difference and though we are uncomfortable with the principle and amount we also do not want to risk their cancelling the booking. What do you suggest?

What is their reason for wanting to increase the price @Bernice66

A host is not allowed to increase prices once booked unless for example you ask for extra services .

We did not ask for additional services. If I understand correctly they had forgotten to raise the price for that time of year at the time of booking. If one browses now for that timeframe the prices reflect the change.

I'm amazed that a host would ask this of you. Every day I learn something new here! The slow pricing update was clearly their fault and they should obviously honour your booking at the price paid. Fortunately, if you don't agree to pay more, the host will have to cancel from their side.

I do understand that from your perspective you don't want to lose the place and would consider paying more.

If you agree to a higher price, at least make sure payment stays inside the Airbnb app.

But part of me hopes that you force this host to cancel and that it really hurts their rankings and/or superhost status ...

They should've just let it go and considered it a lesson in seasonal pricing.
