Would a cocktail/mocktail machine improve the guest experience, or is it overkill?
Hi everyone,
I’ve seen some hosts adding small “experience upgrades” to their listings — things like coffee bars, snack stations, welcome baskets, local treats, etc.
A friend of mine has a cocktail/mocktail machine, kind of similar to a Bartesian-style setup. It can make drinks automatically, and I’m wondering whether something like this could be a nice differentiator for an Airbnb, especially for guests celebrating birthdays, couples’ trips, weekend stays, or small getaways.
At the same time, I’m not sure if it would actually improve the listing’s competitiveness, or if it would just create extra maintenance and cleaning work.
For hosts who have tried unique amenities or drink stations:
Did it help with guest satisfaction, reviews, or bookings?
Would you consider adding something like this, or would alcohol/liability/cleaning make it not worth it?
Curious to hear honest thoughts from other hosts.
Thanks for all the comments!
I was trying to see what kind of property this would be appropriate for @Lei3339, but I don't see any listings on your profile?
Some local host clubs allow third party advertisers to add their contact details to a directory of services that is accessible to interested hosts.
@Shelley159 Looks like @Lei3339 may be doing some market research on mocktail machines 😉
Haha @Karen114 , very good observation 😅 You got me !
I’m not an active host at the moment, so I may be looking at this more from a guest-experience angle than an operator angle.
That’s exactly why I asked here — I wanted honest feedback from people who actually deal with turnover, cleaning, liability, and what really matters for bookings.
Would really appreciate any feedback regarding this topic xD

@Lei3339 Thanks for clarifying. Nothing wrong with researching 😊
I think something like this would be very specific to location as well as the avatar guest you're targeting. For me, most of my guests are mature and would likely appreciate a heating pad and some complimentary Bengay more than a cocktail machine.
From a host standpoint, most of us do anything in our power to avoid liability, injuries and parties and something like this would be like throwing gasoline on a slow burning fire.
That being said, I don't think the machine would be a deciding factor on booking a place to stay but a nice to have if everything else checks off the boxes.
Best of luck!
If you'd been honest that you were doing market research for your business rather than pretending to be a host you may have got more responses @Lei3339
Hi @Helen3,
You’re right, and I should have clear that I was asking from a product/business research perspective. I appreciate you calling that out.
I’ll restart with a new post and make my intentions clear from the beginning.
