Laundry Unit

Laundry Unit

Hello! I am considering becoming a host but the unit that I'd like to use does not have a washer or dryer (or hookups). I am located in Denver. Have others had any luck hosting without offering laundry facilities? Thanks.

@Maria-Isabela0 . I guess it all depends on what length stays you are targeting.

My studio listing started out without a washer or dryer but there was an outside clothesline with pegs and a good basin in the bathroom so guests could hand wash if they needed to. This year I installed a spare front loader washer/dryer (provision was already there) and I think its been used in about 10% of bookings, all stays longer than 3 nights so its most useful aspect is providing extra bench space next to the basin!

Like other hosts here have commented, let them know where the nearest laundromat is in your guide and keep an eye on reviews for other local listings to see if other guests are choosing theirs because of this missing facility or not.

@Maria-Isabela0  Guests will book accommodations without laundry services if there is a laundromat/dry cleaner nearby.

More to the point, how are you going to handle the turnover laundry -- the towels, sheets, comforters, etc.?   Are you going to bring it home with you or spend time in the laundromat yourself?

Thank you, @Lorna170, for your feedback. Yes, I plan to bring it home or go to a nearby laundromat. I'd need quite a few sets of everything.  Thank you for helping me think through this.

Hi @Maria-Isabela0 you can definitely host without in-unit laundry, especially for shorter stays. The key is to make laundry convenient for guests. Share a list of nearby laundromats or wash-and-fold services in your guest guide, and if any local laundromats offer pickup and delivery, consider partnering with them or arranging a discount for your guests. It's a simple way to add value and offset the lack of machines in your unit.

That is a great tip. Thank you, Jason114!

Thank you, @Frances3408. That is very helpful.

Hello @Emilie. Thanks for checking in. I am still considering my options, including installing a laundry unit. I should know by early next year if I become a host. Thanks.

Hi @Maria-Isabela0

It's exciting to hear you are considering becoming a host, and I'm very happy to see Lorna, Jason and Frances' advice has been useful already. As it has been a little while now since you asked, I wanted to check in and see if you'd made a decision -do you think you will jump in and become a host?

Let us know if there is anything else we could help with 🙂

Thanks,

Emilie
