Security Tips for Hosts: Avoiding Theft in Large Property Bookings

Hi everyone,

I’ve listed a 5-bedroom house and while I’m excited, one of my biggest concerns is security. I’ve heard of cases, especially here in South Africa where guests book out an entire property and end up clearing the place of almost everything.

I know this doesn’t happen often, but it does happen, and I’d really appreciate any advice on how to protect my property, screen guests effectively, and put safeguards in place to avoid such situations.

If you haven't done so already I would suggest @Kingsley-David0 

1. install cctv at main entrances 

2. if you don't live locally have a local cohost able to get to your property promptly and deal with any problem guests

3. develop vetting questions to ensure guests are a good fit

4. have house rules confirming guests on the booking can be at the property and add a per person fine for any visitor

5. some hosts use noise software to see if noise goes above a certain level

6. have house rules about noise outside ie garden not to be used after 10 pm
