Hey everyone,
I can only imagine how much work goes into perfecting your property in order to improve guests’ experiences. From what I read on the Community, it’s a continuous process that takes great attention to detail and commitment.
With that in mind, I thought it would be nice for us to celebrate all that hard work you’ve put into your listing by sharing some lovely feedback and recognition you’ve received from guests who have noticed the effort - whether they've praised a fully equipped kitchen or were grateful for a very comfy blanket.
What part of your listing gets the most compliments? Do you have any nice photos, stories or reviews to share?
Thanks,
Liv

@Elaine701 Some great insights! I love the "under promise, over deliver" approach you mentioned, it does make a lot of sense.
It might be the first time I read about the unspoken cues guests give away. Would you maybe consider writing a topic about that? It sounds interesting and like it can be beneficial to lots of new Hosts.
Also, I can only imagine how much work and attention to detail it takes to be a good Host. It's definitely not for everyone, so I still find you amazing 😜

Thank you @Liv it is so refreshing to focus on the positives of hosting for a change
My guests comment most on our location, my sourdough and the extra touches I leave for them. I get a real kick when they discover and use a disposable shower cap, sunscreen or birthday candles!
Here is a favourite review but honestly they've all been lovely, I've been very lucky.
Congrats on that and your many other amazing reviews, @Angie601!
Thanks for sharing, it sure is great to have something positive to read.
Can we see pictures of the sourdough? I'm sure I'm not the only who's curious here 😆

@Liv Like all the hosts here, I've luckily gotten wonderful reviews, and like @Ann783 I went back over those from last year to see what stood out. Privacy, recommendations, and thoughtful touches were high on the list, but probably the most popular amenity at each of the three was the outdoor space, each facing the distant view. Many said they could have sat there all day, and I love it when people do just that.
This review from last summer made me smile, though, because the girl expressed herself so enthusiastically:
"The pictures are real, people! What you see is the experience, and so much more. The place couldn’t have been cleaner. The privacy was complete. The recommendations were comprehensive. The details - the thoughtful thoughtful details - were everywhere. Forgot bug spray? It’s here. A speaker would be nice for your audiobook? Got it. Propane tanks for the grill? We have two. Just a phenomenal experience. Location is unreal, space is perfect, everything was luxurious while remaining Maine. Just so good."
Hope that made you smile too!
Aww that's such a sweet review, @Ann72!
I can imagine guests have been appreciating outdoor spaces even more now, after being isolated at home for so long.
Your listings do look like a dream btw, so it's good to get confirmation they're real 😂

Our front porch. It surprises people even though I have photos on the listing. One guest sent us a picture of her having decorated the table so we did the same for our own photos.
When we drive by we see people there all the time and they'll tell me how friendly the neighbors are (who wave and say hi). That was a wonderful revelation. Then I realized a lot of people don't have front porches so I'm glad about that.
Another person saw me working on the backyard and had come out the back porch (more of a balcony leading to the back stairs) "This place is a lot larger than it looks in the photos."
🙂
Love that anecdote about your guest spontaneously praising your place, @Christine615! Super sweet 🙂
I was just talking about outdoor spaces with @Ann72. Have you noticed if guests have been more appreciative of the outdoors since the pandemic?

@Christine615 One of my strongest and happiest childhood memories is of time spent on my grandmother's front screened-in porch, (oddly enough, also in Kansas City) where I used to pass hours devouring books or chatting with my grandma while she knitted or crocheted. It was also surrounded by lilac trees so it smelled divine in the springtime.
@Liv,
We get the most compliments on the overall modern design, comfort and efficient utilization of small space. Guests also like that our properties are in on dead-end roads very quiet wooded areas, but just minutes to shopping, restaurants and attractions. However, there are guests who say we are too far from things, but they also didn't want to rent a vehicle or pay to rent a space that's located in the center of things.
