Anyone else struggling to get bookings with the new hike in Airbnb fees?

Today I had a guest ask if I would offer any other discounts as the  final booking cost was nearly $400 more than the original listing price.  I already give a 10% discount for extended stays.  When I did the math-with Airbnbs new increased fees to both guests and hosts-I am not even receiving my full amount to cover my nightly cost plus cleaning fee.  I know some people allow guests to book "off the record" to reduce high fees.  I want to honorable use the Airbnb platform, but this just isn't working.  I am afraid I will continue to lose bookings due to high fees.  I don't live in a vacation area, so my bread and butter is people that just need a place to stay.  With these high fees I don't think i can compete with hotels that now seem more transparent/upfront with their fees.  I'm feeling very disappointed.  Any suggestions?

@Hillary108 One thing about hosting, best not to try to be all things to all people. Airbnb charges 3% to host and roughly 15% to guests, been like that 'forever'. Others booking agencies charge more to the host and less to the guest, but the absolute cost to the host/guest combination comes out fairly close among each other.

Granted these are tricky economic times and people want to save money by asking for discounts but perhaps best for hosts to charge what they 'need' to charge first, to stay in the game and be somewhat temporarily content, and be patient. Things in all likelihood will start to change by the end of next year because many present trends are not sustainable in the long run.

P.S. You have a nice place for $100 a night.
