Bad review after giving a bad review

I have up till now 5 star reviews until my last guest arrived and they left the apartment in a terrible mess food left in oven on the stove nothing at all had been cleaned and a broken toilet. I reviewed him with a one star he came back with a 3 star for cleanliness which is so not true.
how can I reply without being accusing on my site.
I feel the system is flawed I won’t review anyone honestly again as it has not helped me. Please help thank you

Hi @Justine532

Just in case someone reading is worried: the guest can't see a host's review before they post theirs.

This guest may have anticipated a bad review from you - did you do or say anything that may have caused them to expect a low score? If not, they may have just guessed the review would be bad ...

It's a weird situation, because their only other review specifically mentions cleanliness 😀

I wouldn't worry about it at all, your scores are really great, and even the last guest didn't see a way to mark you down below 4 overall! They also wrote a positive comment, so don't score an own goal by bringing something negative up in your response - at the moment it looks like a happy guest who just happens to think 4 stars are great.

Hello Justine,

This is too bad.

When I am not happy with some guests who left the place dirty or did not abide by the rules,  I do not post any comment and notation to avoid encouraging them to do so in case they are not fare. I wait until the deadline if there is still no notation from them, I leave the situation as it is.

I did not have such a bad situation, only guests that did not clean the house and left some of their personal possessions they did not want anymore.

What I did for them is that I waited if they posted a notation and finally as they did, I posted mine and was not too severe by giving a 4 stars.

Anyway guests cannot see your notation before posting them and vice verse

And also you can reply to their feedback by posting a public response which will help future potential guests considere the situation with the correct discernment.

Bon courage

@Justine532 there is nothing wrong with the review system but you do need to know how to work it. Any hint from the host that they are unhappy with a guest should be avoided. Leave your review quickly and then hope they review you within 14 days if you plan to claim against Aircover.

Hello @Justine532 👋

Sorry to read about your recent experience with a guest. That being said, you've got some wonderful advice and support here from some of our Hosts. Have any of the answers helped?

If so, it's always a lovely gesture to pop a like on the comments 👍  and mark a Top Answer ☑️  - there's no rush if you're waiting on a resolution though.

Looking forward to hearing from you! 😊

If you anticipate they may give you a bad review then it’s better not to be the first one to review. If you don’t write a review in this case, it’s very likely they won’t have written one either.
