Has anyone successfully switched back from Airbnb’s single-fee structure to the split-fee structure? Airbnb is now deducting the full 15.5% from my payout, and I’m really not a fan of it. From what I’m reading, they’re making it sound like switching back isn’t an option.

For context, this is my personal home and a small, family-run setup. My mother originally created the Airbnb listing under her account, while I own the property and handle the hosting. I’m not interested in rebuilding the listing or changing ownership because of the unnecessary technical mess that could create.

Has anyone in a similar situation been able to get Airbnb to restore the split fee, or received a clear explanation of why their account was moved to the single fee? I’m trying to determine whether there is an actual option beyond Airbnb simply saying no.

Hi Lauren,

Airbnb is simply "regularising" their business to be more consistent with how the entire industry operates. This is the same model other platforms operate on. 

I eagerly switched to single fee years ago, just for that reason.

So far, it has made no difference in the price the guest sees, no difference in the payout I receive, and no difference in bookings. It's as if nothing happened. Nobody even noticed.

What is the problem you're having with it?

The split fee is being scrapped - we all have to change to the single fee. There's definitely no changing back to the split fee, as very soon it won't exist.

Can you tell us what's bothering you about the single fee? If you ran the tool to update your prices (it sounds like you did), then your host payout should be the same and your guests should pay very close to the same.
