Hi folks
I’ve been hosting away for the last 3 years and currently my feature photo is of the open plan kitchen/family room/diner. We accommodate up to 8 guests - a mix of folks and many attending weddings at a local castle venue.
If you have a moment can you take a look at my listing and tell me if you prefer the current pic or the one of the outside of the house. Which would attract you more?

@Amanda660 I think the photos are super just like they are............the 1st one is perfect - I just have an idea that I would suggest to you - Your Title ??? when reading your reviews everyone wants to give you more than 5stars.............they say awesome, beautiful, amazing.............so why not include a few of those proven wonderful words to your title..............I usually think folks know where they are looking and its a waste of words to include the places in the title.
Looks like a "Dream Stay" to me ------- decor is fabulous, the layout, design, everything and the area near by.
happy hosting ------------fabulous place!
The photo of the house is nice but the interior photo is stunning.
I would keep it as it is.
Thanks @Mike-And-Helen0 , I’ve had a few comments from guests saying the house is bigger than it looks in the photos and wanted to try and convey that. On the flip side the kitchen pic will appeal to groups which is who I’m trying to pitch at. Thanks for your feedback.
@Amanda660 I think it's a big compliment when people say it's bigger or better than the pictures. As long as they don't ding you for accuracy 🙂
Definitely the one of the inside. I alway like to see the living area and the bedrooms first. I will know within seconds if the space is right for me based on the living room and bedroom pictures. When pictures of the outside of the house are displayed first (although still very nice) I sometime get annoyed when having to click through multiple photos just to see where I will be sleeping.
@Amanda660 I also like the current one.
@Emilia42, you bring up an interesting point that I’ve been thinking about. I usually have an exterior photo showing first, but then the other 4 are a mix of interior and some other stuff. I guess, on mobile, only the first one shows, though.
It would be interesting to hear how people feel about an exterior vs. interior shot as the first photo. I’ve thought often about changing to an interior one myself.
@John1080 your exterior photos/view are incredible. I won't lie, I always pause on that photo of the mountains and the deer when I'm scrolling through. But I think that those beautiful views and outside shots only enhance your listing. Because if I saw a dozen pictures of that view and then clicked through to a run down, dusty cabin in the wilderness I would be pretty disappointed. But I see that picture of your wood stove and cozy bedroom and I know I would want to stay there, regardless of the view.
@Emilia42, thank you. I have flirted with making one of the others the main one, particularly one of the woodstove with the ceiling, but I can never seem to get one captured just right that fits into the frame as I want it.
I love your third listing: 'Historic Cape, Walk to Restaurants and Microbrews,' and just love the exterior shot there. I love historic architecture, so I am drawn into that photo and that listing. The interior is great too! What year was it built, if I may ask? We were up in Maine in October - stayed in Jefferson on Damariscotta Lake, and then a place in Sullivan.
It's old, it was built in the 1860's. My family's home across the street is a massive building from the 1830's. The Private Studio is in that building but I can't show any exterior photos since it hasn't been painted in about 50 years. Even though the old architecture is really impressive, it probably scares people on the first impression 🙂 The Cape was much more manageable to paint and fix up the exterior. October is a beautiful time to be in Maine. If you ever make it a little further North, I would love to show you around!

Thanks for all your great feedback @Clara116. We folks from the north of Scotland aren’t keen on tooting our own horns. I was worried that if I bigged it up too much folks would think it too ‘show offy’. Taking your advice though and I’ll try a few new titles. 🙂
