sprry to hear of your experience. In what way was this listing not as advertised apart from not being clean.
What were the issues with cleanliness and did the host not offer to send the cleaners back
if you provided evidence with photos/videos that the listing wasn't clean and the listing not as advertised i.e. missing amenities such as a broken cooker or the shower not working or damages to the property - then if the host was not able to fix this issues you raised - you should have been able to cancel penalty free and have airbnb help you find alternative accommodation.

1. what the cleanliness issues were
2. in what way was the listing not as advertised in terms of missing amenities /damage
3. what the hosts and Airbnb's response was
