How can I help my listing?

Not getting the response I thought I would.  We live on the water in a boating community and this last Memorial Weekend I thought for sure we would get a inquiry.  But nothing.  What can I do to make me stand out?  Thank you.  Very new at this , Lisa

Hello @Lisa10421 ,

Thank you so much for asking for a listing critique here! How long have you been hosting?

I'm tagging a few other hosts to see what they think about your listing: @Elegant-Homes-Retreat0@Anika191@Bradley181@Polly164@Zachary289 and @Nathan146

Thank you everyone in advance!

Warm regards,

Best,

Alex

I use to be on VRBO and changed over to Airbnb.  Not sure why I didnt have any rental inquiries from the past holiday, Which concerns me.  There were only 3 (one being mine) out of 100 Airbnb's  left to rent.   I would love to know what I could do to make mine stand out.

thank you for your help,

Lisa

Hi @Lisa10421 ,

Listings really come down to the details—and that’s where yours could use some work. You’ve got a fantastic property in a great location, but the listing isn’t showcasing its full potential or taking advantage of the tools Airbnb offers. There's no romance about the area of the property.

Right now, the listing feels rushed. I’d recommend taking a bit more time to carefully craft each part of it. First and foremost: hire a professional photographer. That’s essential. The current photos don’t do the space justice, especially at a nearly $1,000-per-night price point.

Next, consider your title. It’s not clear what it means or why it’s compelling. Keep it simple and appealing—something like “Escape to the Delta” might resonate more with guests looking for a peaceful getaway from city life.

The first five photos are key—they should highlight the five most beautiful or unique aspects of your property. Right now, they focus only on the deck and dock, with nothing showing the interior. Also, be sure to add captions. These help guests understand what they’re seeing and why it’s special.

With just a few adjustments, your listing could really shine and better reflect the premium experience you're offering.

I agree with a three night minimum on weekends, but would consider having a two night minimum for weekdays.

@Lisa10421 thank you for sharing your experience, and I really appreciate @Alex, @Nathan146, @Anika191, @Bradley181, @Polly164, and @Zachary289 for jumping in with such thoughtful feedback!

Lisa, first of all — welcome to the Airbnb community! You have a truly valuable location being on the water in a boating community, which is a major asset for travelers looking for a scenic, relaxing escape. The fact that only 3 properties were left during Memorial Weekend, including yours, shows the demand is there — now it's just about presenting your listing in a way that instantly connects with potential guests.

@Nathan146 gave some excellent tips that I fully agree with:

Professional photography makes a massive difference. It’s the first impression, and at your price point, guests expect a visual story.

Your first 5 photos should highlight your biggest wow-factors — water views, unique interiors, any cozy spaces or luxe details.

Captions help bring those photos to life with personality and clarity.

The title is your headline — simple and emotional works best. Something like “Lakefront Bliss with Private Dock” or “Delta Waterfront Escape for Boaters & Dreamers” could grab more attention.

Adding weekday flexibility in minimum stay requirements can also help attract shorter-term or spontaneous bookings.

Finally, your story matters — you switched from VRBO and are passionate about hosting. Consider briefly adding that personal touch in the “About this space” section so guests can connect with the human behind the home.

You're off to a great start. With just a few adjustments, I believe your listing will start performing much better. We’re all here to support you — feel free to reach out anytime!
