Listing my mothers cabin

Listing my mothers cabin

hi all

I want to list my mothers cabin and do all the hosting. Can I just make a personal agreement with her, and go ahead ?
Or does Airbnb need any official consent from her, because the property is not mine ?

How does this work ?

thanx

Tor

@Tor8446 Airbnb doesn't care about this so a personal arrangement should be fine. However you need to consider tax implications for you and your mother. If you set it up wrongly from a tax point of view you will have years of hassle!

yes, thank you. And when you say tax implications, you mean taxing to government, right ?
(not airbmb tax)

thanx again

@Tor8446 Yes - tax to government such as income tax. In many jurisdictions Airbnb supply rental income figures to the government and the way the listing is set up determines which person is said to have received the income.

Hi again,. so a follow up question came up:

I now understand that I can create a new Payout Method and rout / direct all income from a listing directly to my mothers (property owner) account.
The question though, is if the information given automatically from Airbnb to the government understands this, so she will be taxed for the income and not me ?
Because I am the listing host and have given my tax payer information in the Airbnb preferences.

Help your mum set the listing up in her name and add yourself as the cohost and she can pay you at whatever percentage you have agreed .

you then both pay tax on your income @Tor8446
