Verify your host account

Has anyone else been waiting over 72 hrs for their host account to be verified?

I have contacted Airbnb support and they just tell me to sit tight and wait.

This is so frustrating as I’ve put so much work getting the space ready only to be delayed by this step.

After 2 weeks of stressful days and sleepless nights, my listing FINALLY was published today.

What a terrible onboaring experience… I wish this upon no one!

Hello @Abby486  😊,

A few suggestions that helped:
• Make sure the name on your ID exactly matches what’s on your Airbnb profile.
• If you uploaded photos, try re-uploading with clearer lighting or a different file format.
• Ask support specifically to check whether your verification has been “stuck in review.”
• Request escalation rather than just waiting.

If all of these doesn’t works, I would suggest you to delete the profile and recreate it….it would get verify within an hour.

It’s definitely frustrating, especially when you’ve prepared your space and are ready to host — but there is usually an internal flag somewhere that needs a manual push.

Hang in there. Once it’s cleared, things usually move smoothly.

Hi @Abby486 , I can imagine how frustrating this must feel, after all the effort you’ve put into preparing your listing.

When did you submit your host account or listing for verification?

In a haze of frustration, I accidentally deleted my first listing. Whoops!

I created my new listing on Sunday.

I have been in contact with Support, and they’ve let me know to expect a 7 business day turnaround time for being verified.

Wish this is more clear from the beginning. Setting clear expectations would make this process easier on everyone!

@Abby486

And now it can take upto max 72 hours (but in general upto 48 hours) before the listing appears in the search system....

@Abby486

Your place is really cute!

I believe some of the delay is regarding verification of licenses required. Frustrating to be sure. I took a quick look at your listing and just some suggestions:

Property Type

Current you have property type "Entire Home". I suggest you change that, as guests have been known to arrive and be upset that they don't have the whole home to themselves (although you do say it is a basement apartment). One thing you'll discover is guests don't read. They won't read your listing details, House Rules or check-in, check-out instructions, etc. They barely look at the photos. Most Hosts I work with that have a basement apartment or one level of a home use the property type Apartment/Entire Place and then clearly explain in Other Details that the Host lives in the upper level of the home.

Shared Spaces/Property Info

You do indicate shared spaces in photos, but you need to add that to the Guest Safety Section/Property Info as well. I would also add potential for noise in this section since you live in the upper part of the Home. Are you also sharing the driveway for parking?  You mention a washer? Is that also shared with you in a laundry room? Do you also have a dryer? I would add photos of both and explain the laundry setup.

Photos

I think your photos are good. However, guests will want to see where they will park, so a picture of the driveway or parking area is important. Also add a photo of the fenced back yard. Do you accept pets? If so, the fenced back yard is important to guests with children or pets and they would like to see that. Be sure to indicate on the photos they are shared spaces and add that to shared spaces in the Property Info Section of Guest Safety. Put captions on ALL photos so guests know what they are looking at.

Amenities - Missing

You are missing some amenities and some that you have are missing details that Airbnb wants you to include. Right now Airbnb says you don't offer Essentials like: TP, soap, towels or sheets?

Go to the Amenities section and tap the (+) sign top right then All. Go thru the entire list and make sure every amenity you have is checked. Then click "Edit" in the top right and add all the details indicated by the pencil icon. You say you have free parking on the premises, but haven't entered the number of spaces? You say you have a washer (no dryer?) but don't indicate if it's in the unit and if included or pay. All that info is indicated by the pencil icons in Edit.

I would also add in Other Details you don't have a full size oven or refrigerator, but do have a mini frig. I would add something to the caption of the Kitchenette photo about that as well.

Many guests want to know if you have good WiFi speed (especially in a basement). I would do the Wifi speed test in amenities (if it's decent speed). Airbnb puts a callout in the amenties section on the lisitng.

Missing Sections

You are missing the Neighborhood Section and the Getting Around Section. These are found under Location in the Listing Editor.

This has been our experience too. They have been holding our payments for 112 days and counting... and we have completed the verification process 9 times, but they don't acknowledge it.

Booking brings guests, airbnb only a few and steals a lot of your time with requests to do things.

They also don't issue legally required receipts to company name.

I guess it's falling apart. There is no customer service, only computer generated canned answers and the run arround.

We have multiple properties and have been working with booking for 9 years with 0 problems.
We recently put just 8 of our properties on airbnb and it's been a mixed experience.
They only get us 4.7 % of the business and they are a handful to work with.

To make the long story short. We tried to get airbnb to send us the receipts in our company name and they can not do it, even though it is a legal requirement through out Europe.
To make the stories worse, they froze our payments, it's not a lot, 8.000 euros, but they have been keeping them for 112 days and counting.

The partner support does not work all you get is canned answers and the run arround.
We uploaded the goverment issued ID and drivers licence of the director of the company and goverment issued trade court papers  for the company.
We have done the KYC nine times and they never acknowledge that it is done.
They keep sending us the canned answer which is not true; that the date of birth on the goverment issued ID and name of birth of the director is different. But it is in fact the same.
We told them it is the same multiple times, but there is no real person on the other side, just a computer that gives canned answers.

In your experience, do we need to sue airbnb to get the money? Is airbnb going under?
We don't think it is a viable option as it only brings 4,7 % of business and does not pay out on time.
