Is there a way to get my listing to show up first or second when someone searches? When I check it, other homes that are farther away from the desired city and with a lower review rating show up first.

If you look on the Airbnb Help centre Airbnb it will give you the criteria they use to rank listings @Susan6105 

Lots of good reviews and ratings and strong relevant written content and photos are key as is early availability.

supply and demand will also affect rankings .

whats supply and demand like for your sort of listing in your location ?
