Airbnb completely threw their hosts under a bus regarding Covid-19

Why exactly are we being told to bear 100% of the financial burden of this? Oh, right, because Airbnb doesn't actually care about the hosts or their financial well being.

And we aren't Marriott, or United or Airbnb that will probably get bail outs from the government.  We just get slammed with the fall out.

The costs for cancellation should be split 50/50. If the guest took out travel insurance then it won't be an issue for them. It always, always seems to fall on the hosts to eat the costs if there's adverse weather or events and guests want to cancel. It's incredibly frustrating.

Legally there must be something we can do ? we can't be responsible for something we didn't sign for

I was never were aware that in extreme circumstances I would play the role a travel insurance we are being use and abuse venting is not enough action must be taken

100% agree WE hosts are getting screwed by the policy!  Because Airbnb don't own the assets they can offer full refunds and not lose out financially.  All major travel services are not offering refunds but allowing changes until the end of the year without change fees.

This is from Southwest Airlines...NO Refunds but you cancel to use for future travels.
-----------------------------------------------------
Fares are nonrefundable but may be applied toward future travel on Southwest Airlines®, as long as reservations are canceled at least ten minutes prior to the scheduled departure. Failure to cancel prior to departure will result in forfeiture of remaining funds on the reservation.

What also happening guests who booked for April in the same country, cancel just because they can with Airbnb support not asking any questions. Any excuse is valid to cancel right now. And on the other hand, a host has a mortgage, cleaning staff and inventory. We really need 50% refund to keep our listing going till a better day

Without the hosts you wouldn't have a business at all. How could you not offer any assistance to us? How could you just give full refunds out to the guests without proper verification??? For some of us this is a full-time business and we have multiple locations what are you going to do to help us? This is half of a year salary for most of us what are you going to do to keep us and our listings on air B&B instead of moving somewhere else where they care about the people that keep their business alive ?? !! How can you place ALLL of the burden on us, the way you are treating the “host” is deplorable!!!! I have 4 Locations; all 4 places were completely booked for March April and May and now my calendar is completely empty! What are you going to do to keep US as customers??

Agree this is totally one sided which puts us hosts all at risk. I’m livid with Airbnb’s treatment of hosts carrying this burden and literally not even speaking to what they’re going to do for hosts in their new “package”. They must not realize that hosts literally are their inventory and they’re crapping in the hands that are feeding them.

Go for it.

Being here in the UK doesn't help in your collective State side action, but know that we hosts this side of the big pond are being similarly impacted and shafted by Airbnb and you have my 100% moral support.

Thank you for organizing this and please keep me updated. *sensitive information hidden*

it seems now they cancel with full refund due to the cov-19 from 2 reservations in june? it says it was only from march 15 to April 15 I already think that it's very unfair that we the host are being use as travel insurance with full refund for the guest without even consultation maybe we could have find a fair solution together !!!
when I travel I always have the option to take a cancellation  insurance  or not  it's not right to treat the host this way without any consideration Im sorry but maybe the direction need to rethink this with the host in mind as well as the guest, wen have mortgages and loan to pay too!!!

@Jean-François73  salut, hi, full refund for june reservation??? you are kidding?! unbelievable
