Host Advisory Board members

Interesting to see that some board members who haven't posted here since 2017 are suddenly posting multiple times. The cynic in me suggests that Airbnb have asked them to do so to find out what is going on in Airbnb land.

Perhaps they should have just invited some of the more prolific posters on the community centre to be on the advisory board!

@Bez8  Thanks for the info. I know it's hard to guess ages, but I can usually tell if someone is closer to 30 than 60 🙂 The 35-50 year old range, to me, is the hardest to pin down just on appearance.

When I was 55, most people thought I was closer to 40. Sadly, I can't say I get mistaken for a 40 year old anymore.

you don't get mistaken for a 40 year old because the mistake you for much younger 😎

@Bez8 I do want to talk about what happened 2 or 3 years ago... because nothing changed! More than once I made a post about something without doing my homework and searching old posts and someone would point out an identical thread from years ago and nothing being done.

 @Bez8 it's the past that creates the present, hence the sighs you hear. I think most hosts would be more excited about the future if we believed a change for good is coming, however with Airbnb's horrendous track record I fear the same old story, broken promises. I think you're going to have to get used to the negativity on here, but it's not surprising after reading the many threads as to why that is. And please, dont take any negativity personally.

@Robbie54

Thank you so much for reaching out to me. I agree.

I wish I could promise that good change is coming, but only time will tell.

Someone on here told me to under promise and over deliver and I really liked that.

I also understand the past its role in the present. I need to be more realistic and less romantic about the whole thing.

@Nutth0 I wasn't referring to you.

Not letting me tag NutthO either. A recent post of yours was very helpful and well received. I also enjoyed it. I think other Host Advisory Board Memebers could follow your lead and use the create new post to share any relevant updates or insights. If there is nothing to report yet, and no real substance, they could instead give some helpful tips to new host.

excellent Idea John

@Bez8 great.. sorry about some of the unnecessary comments towards you in a previous thread. Community organizers already removed those and I also don't want to get involved in threads that get off the track. These are important issues and while not every host here is flawless, a few are, they rest don't hold a grudge and still provide tons of helpful and even brilliant comments, and I really respect that host are free to express their convictions. Some of core issues are also very important and not easy to resolve.

@John5097

You're absolutely right.

One thing I'm beginning to understand more is that the core issues are not easy to resolve

I'm glad you mentioned that. But I do believe we can take the necessary steps to provide solutions and help remove roadblocks

I look forward to having many more conversations about it

"But I do believe we can take the necessary steps to provide solutions and help remove roadblocks"

I'll look forwad to learning of the steps you are promising will be taken. But I do believe that it will take more than tossing around platitudes. Until then the experience of the CC community is a lot more helpful for host to try and avoid some of the inherent landmines.
