Hi, really stressed right now... what help can I get...
I booked a month in advance for a 2-month-long accomodation in Sydney for my internship.
After two weeks the host requested for a 20% increanse in price to which I declined.
Maybe I should have known better that this was a bad sign.
The host cancelled 5 days before my check-in, said that she had an urgent family situation.
What are my options? Due to the last minute booking and my "long-term" stay, there is no accommodation available at the location and price point anymore.
The next cheapest option is almost 3 times expensive as my booking.
The customer service representative said that this was not Airbnb's responsibility and it is the host who cancelled, not them.
Also said my situation is "not last minute" and Airbnb's "last minute" is on the day of check-in (what a nightmare that would be...)
And as a "courtesy" offered me a 20% "coupon" amounting to the price I paid (which is only half the total amount since it was a 2-months stay).
Even with the coupon, I wouldn't have enough budget to pay for the next cheapest accommodation.
I requested Airbnb to help me fund and book the next cheapest option for me but they refused.
I get on the plane on Wednesday evening and need accommodation from Thursday next week.
I haven't slept well since I heard the news that the host wanted to cancel (she cancelled at midnight).
I am literally freaking out... what are my options? What can be done?
