New airbnb cancellation policy

I am concerned with the new policies that allow a 72 hour cancellation after a guest arrives and the host being forced to pay lodging for the guest. I would like to pull my listings and no longer book on airbnb

Airbnb has recently announced their new Cancellation Policy for Hosts effective in August.

This new rule is both punitive and abusive to their Hosts.   Airbnb is limiting the reasons a Host can

cancel, and imposing punitive $ penalties for cancelling.  I have discussed this issue with Airbnb supervisor, that Airbnb is  and she stated, "Yes, while it is rare that a Host will cancel a guest,  Airbnb wants to make more difficult. "  I argued why are you penalizing the entire Host Community with a punitive rule when just a 'rare few' are abusing the cancellation?

The right solution:  Airbnb can easily identify the Hosts that abuse cancellation.  The right response is to impose cancellation rules on those that abuse cancellation, and if egregious, then Airbnb can remove the Host from the platform.

Penalizing the overwhelming community of Hosts for the wrongs of just a very few is shortsighted by Airbnb. It fosters ill will and feelings of abuse by Airbnb Hosts that are responsible.

*Warning:  Hosts should Eliminate "Instant Book"  with the new Cancellation Rule.  Responsible Hosts can't afford to allow Instant Book if Airbnb is limiting the cancellation to just 3 circumstances--and they make the call.  As Hosts we could get stuck with a rogue guest that we have to pay penalties to cancel out.
