I would ask for all the decor with the sale, save the football jerseys. Perfect to appeal to the Goth traveler, fetish tourists, Halloween stays or those who dislike color of any kind.
Definitely a candidate for a "unique stay."
@Laura2592 Interesting how the fiancee wouldn't want to move into his house and rather sell hers . . .
@Emilia42 apparently she has more room 🙂
I do think this guy is missing an opportunity to Airbnb. People would DEFINITELY rent this place.
Omg, I thought it was a different house, is the same guy!
It may be because I always look for ways to renovate that I look past the decor. It really didn't phase me at all. What I focused on was the floor layout. The house looks like a great place for entertaining (when it's safer to have large gatherings), because of the bar, the loft space and the finished basement. The mirrors around the bed must be a middle-aged man thing, because I recall that my bachelor dad had a mirror above his king size bed with a leopard print bedspread next to the indoor hot tub he installed in the bedroom room addition. When my niece inherited the house, that were the first thing to get ripped out.
Since most people want to put their personal touches on their new home, things like removing the mirrors and signs, and painting the cabinets are not very costly or don't take extensive effort. The black carpet looks to be in pretty good condition, so I wouldn't pull it up right away, but instead put down area rugs over it. Overall, the house is a very nice, and looks to be well maintained. I'd buy it, and make some changes. But I like doing that kind of stuff.
@Debra300 I personally would buy it and leave it as is for a Goth/horror themed Airbnb. If I was looking for another investment opportunity. I think its well done for what it is, and though I wouldn't live there, I do see that a lot of effort went into making it unique.
@Laura2592 I find it quite hideous. Not because it's goth, just because it's ugly.
@Anonymous I love that blog! And Zillow Gone Wild. There are some really interesting ideas in the world. Entertaining if nothing else!
@Laura2592 Totally. But I really enjoy staying in places with a flamboyantly garish style. My last homestay in Rome had decor that I could only describe as Budget Liberace. Gold patina, crimson velvet, and a thick haze of pot smoke everywhere. It was off-the-charts tacky and I loved it, really made me feel like I was in a truly foreign land even though it's just a 2 hour flight from home.
@Laura2592 And then, there was this one, in Fayette, MO :-

@Sarah977 "When you've paid for the damages from the undisclosed party, I'll absolutely let you out!".
@Michelle53 And a photo for the gallery of a few poor souls still locked up who couldn't come up with the damage or extra guest fee. Captioned "Penalties will be applied for unregistered guests".
@Michelle53 that is a lovely home except for the detention center. Did it sell?
