I am very disappointed in Airbnb’s demand that we increase our fees. It’s not the increase price because I do understand that our payout will be the same. The problem is that we are now going to help hide /cover for the Airbnb costs. It will make our nightly price appear more (especially when guests search for low nightly costs) and thus be less able to compete in our area with hosts from other properties that use Vrbo or other companies.

Because the guest portion of the split fee falls away with the previous host portion, your guest prices don't increase @Sandy685 

Those of us who've already changed to the single fee can confirm that prices in guest view remain close to the same.

You can note some prices from guest view and compare them after you run the update tool.

I've been on the single fee system for a few years now. I chose it willingly because it's easier to account for, and more consistent with how the entire industry works, so it's easier to maintain consistent pricing across platforms. 

So far, no impact on bookings or the price the guest pays, I actually receive a slightly higher payout. It's as if nothing happened. Nobody noticed.

I also was listed on VRBO. In the end it's slightly more expensive, they have a few hidden charges, and they have a smaller market share than Airbnb, so bookings are fewer. In my case, I received 3 VRBO bookings in nearly 3 years. But I believe that's because Airbnb is so productive, that it books up quickly, and so other platforms just don't get a chance.

Nonetheless, I'd recommend signing up with other platforms, because its a good learning experience. But I wouldn't close your Airbnb listing. It takes years to develop a good review history and ratings. You shouldn't throw away your Airbnb history. It's quite valuable.
