I've been trying for weeks to get someone from Airbnb to tell me what is behind the random 1099 I received. The contact number on the form when dialed says something like "This Airbnb extension is no longer working, call customer service." Which is a dead end as most of the folks who answer that don't even know what a US 1099 Form is.
The dollar amount on my form does not match any of my records. This is nerve wracking as the fastest way to get you taxes audited in the US is to have 1099 reported to the IRS and not account for those dollars!!!
Will Airbnb ever provide a channel to get real help on this?
@Douglas19 Hosts get a 1099 form if they made over $20,000 and had over 200 reservations in the given tax period. Are you sure you were even supposed to receive a 1099?
Does any one from Airbnb review these posts? I appreciate the suppositions from other hosts, but I need to reach Airbnb and figure out why I got a 1099 for what amounts to one long weekend stay at one property.
I have a similar problem of receiving a 1099 personally when it should have been against my LLC. I have never received a 1099 before and have been on the platform for four years with revenues being paid into my LLC checking account between 50K and 90K annually. I believe the "refund allowances " due to COVID are triggering these 1099. I just want it reassigned to my LLC and make sure moving forward it will go against that tax id. This problem needs to be resolved via a phone conversation and it appears that AIRBNB no longer has any live customers service.
