AirBnB payment calculation

I am happy to get my first payment, but I do not understand the calculation(see further down). Can someone just tell me where the difference between "Guest paid" and "You earn" goes? Who receives this money (1085.16)? What taxman gets the tax? America?

And why are the calculations I do with this figures always resulting in broken % values? Shouldn't the fees be straight % values?

Guest Service Fee

Charged to the guest only and Airbnb collects that as their fee for offering platform services. You don't get any of that fee paid to you.

Host Service Fee

Airbnb deducts this fee (3% + VAT) from your payout as their charge to you as a Host to offer platform services.

You are paid the nightly rate plus the cleaning fee minus the Host Service Fee.

You must have a weekly discount set as the there is a nightly rate discount shown and this is deducted from your payout.

I don't see any taxes showing on the reservation detail screen shot you provided?

Not sure I understand what you mean about "broken percentages"?

Hi @Walter813

As far as I know, taxes in the form of VAT should go to Thailand, where the listing is located. Airbnb will pay tax on the service fee that it collects (in its own tax jurisdiction). On your side, you'll probably be liable for income tax on the 5080.96 that you've earned.

@Joan2709 do you manage to calculate the Airbnb service fees exactly? If so, please share. I always get close, but not the exact amount. Here, for example, I would think the line "Guest service fee" would be made up of the 2% currency fee and the 14.2% guest service fee plus 7% VAT (which seems to be the applicable rate for Thailand). The "Host service fee" should be 3% plus 7% VAT. Once again, in both cases I get reasonably close but not the exact amount ...

@Shelley159

I have never got it exact either....🙂

Airbnb says the Guest Service fee is approximately 14.2%, but makes sure to say that varies. Longer term bookings (and larger booking amounts) get a break on the Guest Service Fee; the longer the booking the less the fee supposedly. Currency exchange rates will flucuate and who knows if those are even close to correct.
