Help! Permit and licensing

Hello I live in Hopkinsville Ky and I have been trying to get a license and or permit to do air bnb with my spare rooms. I was told it’s not allowed. I know there are air bnb in my city. Does anyone on here live in my city and how did you get your paperwork. Thank you

Spare room... is that room in an apartment or a house? I had no idea you had to have a license to do that. In Maine all we have to do is have renters insurance which separates your homeowners insurance from AirBnB bookings.

It’s a house. Some states are different and require it.

@Maricela/Angel5277   Do you rent the home from someone else or do you own it?  If you own the home and live in it, you should be able to rent out a spare room.  Most of the laws that towns have implemented require the owner to live in the same house as the room for rent.  However, if you are a renter and do not own the home, you would be subletting the room, which is not permitted under most rental contracts.

@Lorna170 I am doing rent to own right now? They said I’m not allowed do yo occupancy ordnance or something dumb like that. I just don’t want to get in trouble since air bnb pays occupancy taxes for us. So I’m really stuck.
