Homeowners Insurance

I am in the process of turning one of my homes into an Air bnb.  I reached out to my insurance agent and was told my current homeowner's policy will not cover an Air bnb (short term rental).  What are you all doing for coverage?  Is there an insurance company you recommend?  I am located in Louisiana.

@Vina595 Airbnb insure your property whilst guests are there.

@Vina595 Airbnb isn't insurance and if in the worst case scenario the guests burn your house down, it won't be covered. Airbnb isn't going to rebuilt your house. Not are they going to cover your lost rents if unable to use your property. People are really mistaken on this. That's what your insurance was saying. So yea Airbnb has some coverage for damages and other things but you do need a policy that covers STR. I got a quote from Proper and a local company and both were $4000. My regular insurance was $1980. So I'm going with Steadily who came in at about $2500. Good luck!

@Angela3989 has also shared the quotes she received from certain insurers. Are you planning to explore them @Vina595 ?

I was able to find insurance!  Thank you all! I just had to call a few different insurance agents.

Sure!  The name of the insurance company is American Modern.  My local Allstate Insurance agent was able to obtain it for me.

It is really tough to find coverage...especially in some states. i did read alot of negative reviews on American Modern though? Their claims process doesn't seem very good, but I don't know anything about them?

I didn’t realize they had so many complaints! I will check with my agent to see if there is another company I can go with.
