IS LOW BALL PRICING THE SAME AS BAIT AND SWITCH

Why are some Host allowed to deceptively price their units with the low ball price during peak season?  Is this not dishonesty?  What do you think about this type of promotion being unfair to Host that are not deceptively advertising?  Is honesty not the basis of Airbnb's standards?   Does Airbnb promote deceptive pricing?  Jean

@Maria-and-Jean0  wow...****.  It's not deceptive to advertise the best price available.  When sombody visits we have no idea when they plan to book or what dates they are looking for becasue they haven't entered them yet.  Just becasue it's peak season right now doesn't mean they aren't shopping for off season dates.  I get bookings many months in advance.  Once they enter in their dates they see the price for those dates.  You act like we are all going to hell for marketing our property year round.

I have a lovely place but too bad I'm going to hell for my evil ways...right?  Lady of justice my A$$...puh-lease.  I don't lowball anybody.  I take $10 off a few nights of the year.  And those cheaper dates almost always book quickly and I add a few more...so what is the problem with that?   When somebody visits my listing during the peak season they may not be looking to book during the peak season so airbnb shows them the lowest price available until they choose the dates.  seems logical to me.

I also have the same price always, but I don't berate other hosts because they choose to do it differently.

without dates you advertise £43 and with dates £64

it is deceptive but thats AirBnBs' engineering fault. ABB read that my competitors rates were lower, one at $35 night. when I clicked... it was $146 a night! where the hell did they get that? so I get your beef

Some hosts increase cleaning fees to try and limit bookings for short stays.  A $100 cleaning fee is a LOT if you are staying just one or two nights.  But if you are staying 2 weeks?  Thats like $7 per night.
