Suggestions for Complimentary Items for Long-Staying Guests

Hi everyone! I’d love your advice on complimentary items for guests staying a week or more. Currently, I provide daily breakfast, a mineral water bottle each day, free cleanup of room and bathroom on every second day, and a snack board at check-in. Do you think I’m going the extra mile, or is there anything else I’m expected to provide on a daily basis? Your insights would mean a lot!

Thanks
Iffat

I’m a newer host. That sounds very generous to me. Customs and expectations are probably different around the world but I have never seen that level of service at any Airbnbs that I have stayed at. I do not provide breakfast but maybe I could leave out cereal and milk at least. I haven’t had any long term guests yet but cleaning upon request or in the middle of the stay also sounds like a good service. I do provide snacks and water. Sounds like you’re a great job!

Hello @Jerin10

Thank you so much for your kind words! I truly appreciate your perspective and the ideas you’ve shared. Customs and expectations definitely vary, and it’s always interesting to learn how different hosts approach their services.

Providing daily breakfast has started to become a bit challenging for me, so I’m currently considering removing it from the package. However, I’d still love to offer free breakfast to guests who are staying for just one night, as it feels like a special way to make their short stay memorable.

Your idea of leaving out cereal and milk is fantastic—simple, yet thoughtful! Cleaning upon request or mid-stay also sounds like a great service.

Thanks again for your encouraging words and inspiring suggestions—they’ve given me some fresh ideas to think about!

This sounds more like a bed-and-breakfast style setup and quite a bit of effort! In the long run, it might become exhausting if you want the place to run more independently. For a week-long stay, this would mean being there daily to provide breakfast. Do you charge extra for it, or is it more of a surprise treat?

Personally, I usually leave a bottle of wine or a jar of candy for guests. If they’re not into wine, they just leave it, but they always appreciate the gesture. I remember how much my husband and I enjoyed a complimentary bottle of wine while traveling and staying in an Airbnb, it really made our stay feel special!

Hi @Nino576

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful perspective—I truly appreciate it and agree with most of your points. You’ve highlighted an important consideration about offering daily breakfast, as it does lean towards a bed-and-breakfast setup and could become difficult to sustain over time. Finding that sweet spot between thoughtful touches and a more independent setup is something I’m actively working on.

To make guests feel welcomed, I currently prepare a snack board that includes 2 packets of chips, 4 to 5 small bars of chocolate, candies, half a roll of biscuits, and a bottle of mineral water. If I were to remove breakfast from the package, do you think this snack board would still create that inviting and memorable experience for guests? I'm aiming for something that feels special while being easy to maintain consistently.

Your input has been incredibly helpful in shaping these ideas—thank you again for taking the time to share your suggestions!

Regards
Iffat

@Ms--Iffat0

I was curious to see Guest responses.  Maybe add what listing you are asking about?  I wasn't able to find it.

Hi @Marie8425,

Thank you for your message! I appreciate your interest. Just to clarify, I currently have only one listing, so that’s the property I’m referring to.

@Ms--Iffat0

You are nw and only 1 night rented,  Your message gave the impression that you have had long tern renters.  A bit confusing, if you haven't had any long term renters then hard to answer your question because reasons for longer stays are a factor in what a long term Guest prioritizes in their accommodation.

@Marie8425

Thank you for your message! I understand the confusion—I just wanted to clarify that my current guest, who has been staying for over a week, is still here and will be checking out in two days. While I haven’t hosted long-term renters yet, I thought it might be helpful to start gathering perspectives on what such guests might prioritize in their accommodations.

@Ms--Iffat0

Long Term renters are usually a market that require a temporary rental for > 28 days at a time.  I think the good question you should ask yourself first is what is the market your targeting?  Then am I meeting needs of that market?  Are my actions something that encourage Guests to rent my place?

Hi @Ms--Iffat0

To me it sounds like you're supplying some great things.

You say that the items are for guests staying a week or more, but the items you mention may be nice for shorter stays as well?

Generally, not many listings provide breakfast, so this could make you stand out (I'm sure it may also be difficult to re-stock breakfast items all the time, but it sounds like you've got it under control!)

If you'd like to add even more for your guests, the items don't necessarily have to be things that they can consume or take with them - making things available in case they need them (even things that stay in the listing) could also make guests feel welcome. Examples include plenty of clothes hangers, facial tissues, pegs for drying clothes, wipes for spills, etc.

I think @Kitty-and-Creek0 supplies many complimentary items, maybe she would like to add some thoughts!

Hi @Shelley159

Thank you for your thoughtful message and kind suggestions! I truly appreciate your feedback. I wanted to share that I’m already providing all the items you mentioned—such as clothes hangers, facial tissues, and wipes for spills—to every guest as part of my listing. I believe these small touches really help guests feel welcomed and comfortable.

As for breakfast, I currently offer it to all guests, whether they’re staying for one night or an entire month. However, I’m finding that providing it daily is becoming a bit challenging to maintain. I’m considering making adjustments to ensure it’s more manageable while still delivering a great experience for my guests.

Thank you again for your lovely message and valuable input—it means a lot! 😊

Best regards,
Iffat
