Virginia (Orange County) Taxes Remitted by Airbnb

How can I determine what state and local agencies Airbnb is remitting taxes to on my behalf and the amounts (percentages)?

@Al244  The taxes that AirBnB is collecting and remitting on your behalf will be listed under Menu, Listing, Pricing and Availability, Taxes  (use the edit button) to see the details.

It will NOT list the percentages collected and remitted, so you will have to know what taxes should be collected, the percentage charged, paid to whom, etc.  In many instances AirBnB will have an agreement to collect State and County taxes, but not municipality (city).

Taxes are charged on your nightly fee, your cleaning fee and any other fees that you charge as well as the AirBnB fee.  So when you look at a guest payment, you should see a gross amount for taxes.  I then check that the gross amount represents my required percentages, i.e., 2.75% County, 5.25% State and 6% municipality for a total of 13%.  It usually tallies correctly.  The additional 3% that AirBnB deducts from your earnings is the credit card convenience payment.

Thanks, very helpful.

It does seem though, that if Airbnb is collecting a specific amount, and the amount is the total of the percentages owed to specific jurisdictions, then Airbnb could be up front about the jurisdictions and percentages. It's information that they have to already have.
