5 star overall and zero stars for everything else

Hello everyone,

We've been hosting for 2.5 years and I've just noticed something I'd not seen before.... We've just received a glowing 5 star overall review but all other categories had a 'zero star' symbol next to them for this review. Is this new? Does it mean that the guest skipped these ratings? Will it affect my ratings for these categories? Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks, Jaye

@Jaye-And-Guy0  Hi!

So it just means they never finished comleting the review. It doesnt affect you though, i.e. you don't suddenly have 0 included for the others. It just includes the part they completed (Overall). It's happened to me before, wasn't a big thing.

Hope this helps!

It's like @Louise231 says, no big deal, @Jaye-And-Guy0

As an aside, I had to take a look at your listing - just because it's in somewhere called Labrador (sadly none seen in listing) - and it's great.

@Jaye-And-Guy0  I noticed the same with my recent reviews. It's been 2.5 years I receive reviews with stars both in general section, and in detailed section. Now, from mid-June, I have 4 reviews with only a general review WITHOUT the rest, on 8 reviews. Meaning, in a month, 50% less "detailed" reviews than normal.

@Louise231 Thanks for the update. But could it be possible that Airbnb changed the ways travelers are invited to reviews hosts? Can't believe it happens by chance... The problem : the detailed section doesn't represent the general guests opinion (f.e. 10 guests leaving 5 * , and noting else. Then 1 unhappy guest leaving 4 *, and 4 * in the detailed section....  😕 )

I’m so frustrated by this myself! We recently had a guest act very happy then leave only 4 stars and no category stars. It really stung. Now another guest just did it and frankly, I’m angry! If you don’t leave a perfect review, you ought to explain yourself. It was our 100th review and I eagerly read it, only to be bitterly disappointed. I work *so hard* to be a great host, and as a Superhost/Plus host, I take it so seriously when a guest drops a star from their review. To not even explain themselves? Unacceptable, in my opinion. I’m sorry to all the hosts who’ve recently experienced this. I contacted support and they apologized but said it’s within the guests’ rights to simply review without category stars. I think this ought to be changed. I also contacted the guest, asking for clarification, apologizing that it wasn’t up to their hopes and wishing they’d have informed me during their stay if it were within my capacity to alter anything. This made me feel a little better but I’m not holding my breath that it will do any good.

Let’s hope this stops happening for all of us! 😕
