is it customary for the air bb to ask for the last 4 of my SS number and have my full name and DOB- that makes me a little uncomfortable since I don't know who sees this data- can you confirm that this is the process Thank you

Whoa!  I would never give out that information.  Perhaps the guest wants to ensure your listing is legit, so you can refer to your business license, if your city requires it.  I cannot think of a reason to provide your private information.
