I am an Airbnb user and host of many years and love it!
I recently had very poor experience at a house in Cotswolds where I politely pointed out to host that there were some issues. One of the main ones being building works for 4 days next door which the host knew about in advance and resulted in my rest and chill holiday being ruined as I was not able to use the outdoor space for 4 days. Other issues included poor housekeeping, chipped ill matched crockery, cobwebs everywhere, dirty bathrooms with chipped tiles etc. The TV was also unusable in the lounge. She sent flowers to apologise but there was no vase......problems went on
I paid £1000 for this holiday and there was just myself for the most part, joined by my daughter for 2 days
I recevied a rude text from owner on day of departure.
I complained to airbnb who stated that these problems had been reported before by other guests and they would take away this hosts super host status and ask for a refund. She offered a paltry £30 refund and Airbnb topped the refund up by another £30.
I didn't put any comments up as part of a review as I didn't want to embarrass the owner
Then, I realise that the owner had posted a comment about me but it was too late to reply
Airbnb have been quite unhelpful (takes ages to speak to someone and they just say they appreciate and agree with my thoughts, situation etc but they cannot remove this derogatory comment on my profile page despite the fact that they took away the owners super host credentials and offered me compensation!
This comment may put off guests from wanting to stay with me or hosting me
This unfair and unjust situation is unbelievable and I am now thinking of leaving airbnb altogether
I am going to try to get some satisfaction again today with yet another phone call as no one has replied to my recent email request for help
Any help would be appreciated, thanks
Fiona
