AIR BNB and PayPal

I do not want Air BnB to have access to my account for every transaction.  However unless you agree to do this there is no other way to pay using PayPal.  Why does Air BnB ask for this?  I have just had an expereince with them where they took £390 out of my account without me actually confirming that I wanted the booking.  In the end PayPal had to step in and demand that ABnB return my money.  As a consequence ABnB are saying that I need to agree to give them access to my Pay{al account at all times, saying that it will "speed up transactions".  Surely this is wrong??  PayPal have advised me against agreeing as well...

It's impossible toget hold of Air BnB to talk to someone

Hi Susan. Unfortunately you either agree to their terms of service, or you don't. They are unlikely to begin changing contracts for individuals. Mistakes can alwasy happen, with banks, with Paypal, with shops, you name it...

I don't perceive it's changing contracts just for an individual.  If PayPal hadn't stepped in it would have been a lucrative mistake made by and for Air BnB. They tried to take off a 'servicecharge' of £50 when I had not confirmed any transaction!!  It needs to be optional and not obligatory that people give Air BnB full access to their PayPal accounts as Air BnB is now telling me I have to do.  I know of no other big business whicvh operates this = Ebay or Amazon for example who do give individuals the choice.  Perhaps you do?
