Guests from China are trying to make a payment for 2nd month after I got notification from Airbnb that payment did not go through - due to insufficient funds. Guest was reminded by me, as AB&B had failed to notify him of the issue. Guest got his roommates to make the transfers to him, and he immediately attempted payment, but it would not go through, even though the funds were there, which he showed me. Airbnb said it was with Collections department now, and no one else could process the payment or resolve the problem. We spent more than 3 hours on phone with Airbnb today - mostly to countries outside the USA who were unable to resolve this and process payment. They said only "Collections" could process a payment, but that there was no phone number for them, and we would have to wait till they contacted us - and further, they would not be calling, they would message guest!! I want this large payment processed now. Can anyone advise? This will be the last time I use Airbnb for long term stays, as they clearly have lousy customer service. This would never happen on VRBO and there would have been multiple people available to process the payment TODAY - and inside the USA, PLUS they would not charge fees in excess of 1,000 to the guest. Neither guest nor I can contact Collections, and all other departments we reached at Airbnb cannot resolve the issue as it is in Collections' hands. The guest is a well-meaning young student, and is trying to make the payment, but Airbnb is not facilitating the process, and is not accepting his payment. We have looked at other methods but I'm concerned about having people live in my rental without payment being processed. Any advice? We have tried WeChat - I do not want more work, and don't trust it will arrive in a timely manner. Venmo and Pop Money probably do not take large sums. Should be use VRBO? and book the next month there ? It would take 3 days to get payment at most! Guest needs to use a credit card to make payment FYI.
Thanks!
