Hi,
I am trying to book an apartment. Host has accepted the booking. However AIRBNB cannot verify my photo ID and therefore is blocking the completion of my booking, although the payment for the same has already been deducted from my credit card.
I have tried two different photo IDs over two different platforms (through mobile app and website accessed by laptop). However, AIRBNB failed to match the photos in all instances. No surprise since the IDs were issued 5-8 years before and I am now at my wits end to see how can I appear the same as I used to look 5-8 years back. Not to mention the limitation of facial recognition technology itself.
Can anyone guide me how to sort this out? I cannot find any way to reach out to AIRBNB via email or chat or phoneline. Neither is there a window to raise a ticket for suppport. Atleast not that I have been able to find. Appreciate comments from veterans and anyone from AIRBNB if they are reading this.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Sanat
So?
No solution for this yet? Has Airbnb got enough customers and is trying to kick the rest out? I need to make an urgent reservation!
To anyone who is still trying: get a scanner and upload the ID from your computer, and use your computer camera to take a picture. I tried upwards of 20 times to make this thing work from the app, and every single time it failed. Tried it from my computer, took a crappy picture on my laptop, and it FINALLY worked!
Best of luck to you all!
Spent the last hour just trying to get the app to take pic of my license, and i have multiple copies due to license class changes, address changes. This simply sucks, as trying to get a last minute room close to the hospital.
Byw, also tried just using website, and regardless of the resolution that i choose for the camera, it states that the pic file size is too big.
I have been with Airbnb for about 2 years and made bookings in the past, no problem, and made another two bookings Yesterday for today and tomorrow. Then, that's where the problem started. Airbnb wants my ID. OK no worries. I tried to upload my id with the app on my phone and some problems, so failed. Then I tried with my laptop, added my ID. then it asked for a selfie to match my ID, so I did the selfie, the page says'yes, looks good', continue, the website goes to next page, says we are reviewing your ID and carry on what I was doing.
as I need to confirm my booking quite urgently, so I went on Airbnb app to ask for their help to verify my ID as soon as possible, but instead, she told me I DIDN'T upload my ID at all.... I took screen shot to show her on my laptop and Airbnb app both showing that I have. anyway, never mind, I can do it over again, But the system wouldn't give me the option of add my ID again. on the app, it gives a'remove' button for government ID except it doesn't remove anything but back on the same page again, on the laptop, under'profile', it says I have provided government ID, under account, it. shows an 'add' button, very confusing... anyway, I clicked on add, it went to take a photo of myself page, saying take a photo to match the photo of my ID(the system don't offer any option of add my government ID anymore anyhow), to follow the step, I took photo of myself and again says good shot then to next page saying they arw reviewing my profile, carry on what i was doing...by the best way, I did these over and over again, on my app, on my laptop with Google Chrome and Internet explorer, log in/ out... but the result are the same... in the end, the help centre sent me a message saying they have. a technical Issue(why don't you say before treating me like a nutcase), and not sure when the problem can be fixed.. they sent me another message to ask me to upload my ID again! God!
I in the end had the owners of the house accept my bookings regardless of Airbnb's endless ID verify problem..
I think maybe I should stay away from Airbnb and book my accommodations from other sites.
Good luck.
I am who am Am..... Superhost for ages.... I still get this stupid Airbnb ID request required to continue hosting.
This Platform, and Airbnb's success in general, was judged on Mutual respect and fair judging of host/guest review.
If They want me to post a Photo of myself for their records, They should ask themselves "why would I jeopardize my own Listing by pretending to be another person".
Is it time for a new player in the market who can return to this trust?
Kind Regards, John Kelsall.
