I've had a prior listing on airbnb and some things have changed since. My question is related to inquires. When someone selects dates and inquires about a listing, is it nescessary to decline said inquiry when it's clear, through the conversation, that you can't accomodate them? It seems odd you'd need to decline an inquiry.
Declining it will get it off of your notifications page but I don't think it's "necessary". They may have added that because periodically new guests would mistake their inquiry for a reservation.
